TOLEDO, OH – Today, the office of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), in partnership with United Way and the Center for Nonprofit Resources, hosted two grant seminars – one in Toledo and one in Bowling Green – for nonprofits, schools, government agencies, faith-based and community organizations. The workshops educated attendees about the federal grants available for organizations committed to using national service to address critical community needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. As a member of the National Service Congressional Caucus, Brown has worked to expand national service and to raise awareness about the critical work of national service members.

“National service connects Americans from all ages and backgrounds with an opportunity to contribute to their communities in meaningful ways,” Brown said. “These grant workshops will arm northwest Ohio organizations dedicated to improving their communities through national service programs with the knowledge and skills needed to secure critical grants that will support their mission.”

At the workshop, representatives from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and ServeOhio provided an overview of the AmeriCorps State, VISTA, and National Civilian Community Corps programs and shared information about eligibility, how to apply, and the timeline for the application cycle.

Organization seeking help securing federal resources can find more information on Brown’s website.
