WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $1,981,461 in Affordable Care Act (ACA) funding to nine central Ohio health centers to expand primary care services. This funding will allow the health centers to expand their staff, hours, and provided services.
“Health centers play a vital role in helping Ohioans obtain access to primary and preventive health care services,” Brown said. “This funding from the health law will help more of central Ohio’s children, seniors, and parents receive affordable and accessible health care.”

Ohio’s 40 health centers serve 508,333 patients, providing them with primary health care and healthcare insurance enrollment assistance services. In total, Ohio was awarded $8,482,029 to fund 37 of its health centers. It is estimated that this funding will create 161 new jobs across the state.
