WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met today with Michelle Wilson and Shannon Anicas, representatives of Global Ties Akron, a global education initiative that partners with the U.S. Department of State to coordinate international exchange programs through the department’s International Visitor Leadership Program. Wilson serves as Global Ties Akron’s Executive Director and Anicas serves as Program Director. The two attended his weekly coffee with constituents during their trip to Washington D.C. to advocate for international exchange and global education programs.
“It was an honor to meet with Michelle Wilson and Shannon Anicas,” Brown said. “Their work helps bridge the gap between the United States and other nations, giving both international and American students a chance to explore new cultures and leadership opportunities through education and collaboration.”
Global Ties Akron, formerly known as Akron International Friendship, brings current and future leaders from around the world to communities throughout the United States. The initiative seeks to strengthen relationships between professional leaders at the top of their field from other nations and the United States by welcoming them in the Northeast Ohio community.
