WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown (D-Cavaliers), Kamala Harris (D-Warriors), Rob Portman (R- Cavaliers), and Dianne Feinstein (D-Warriors) made a bet today on the outcome of the 2018 NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. If the Warriors win, Senator Brown will bring a case of beer from Platform Brewing Company to Senators Harris and Feinstein, and Senator Portman will bring a case of Great Lakes Brewing Company to the California Senators. If the Cavaliers prevail, Senator Harris will deliver a case of beer from Anchor Brewing to Senators Brown and Portman, and Senator Feinstein will deliver a case of California Chardonnay to the Ohio Senators. This is the fourth year the Cavs and the Warriors will meet again in the finals.

“As a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, I’m looking forward to seeing King James and the Cavs settle the score,” said Brown. “The Cavs have proven all season that they'll do whatever it takes, and I know that we'll see that in the Finals.”

“Every time the Warriors have been tested during the playoffs, they’ve risen to the challenge and shimmied their way to victory. With our all-star team of Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green leading the way, I’m confident the O’Brien trophy will remain in California where it belongs,” said Harris.

“‘In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned.’ Those are LeBron’s words, but they describe a team whose backs have been against the wall time and time again only to fight back and come out on top,” said Portman.  “Through adversity, injury, and turmoil, the Cavs have banded together and done #WhateverItTakes to win. I expect nothing else this time around, and anyone who does only fuels the fire that drives them. Cavs in 7.”

“Go Warriors! Let’s win our third NBA championship in four years. I’m betting my Ohio colleagues some California chardonnay that the Dubs once again bring the championship back home to the Bay Area,” said Feinstein.

The Senators made the bet over Twitter today. This is the fourth year in a row Senators from Ohio and California have bet on the NBA finals. Last year, Brown delivered beer to Harris’s office after the Warriors won the series.
