WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Chair of
the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, issued the
following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Dr. Lisa DeNell Cook to
be a Governor of the Federal Reserve:
“I
congratulate
Dr. Cook on her historic confirmation to the Federal Reserve Board. She will be
the first Black woman to ever serve on the Federal Reserve Board. She will
bring an invaluable perspective while implementing the Federal Reserve’s dual
mandate and protecting its independence,” said Brown. “Dr. Cook
understands how economic policy affects all Americans. She knows that workers
drive our economic growth, and she understands that when everyone participates
in our economy, it grows faster and stronger. I look forward to working
with Dr. Cook and the entire Federal Reserve Board to ensure the economy works
for all Americans.”
Brown
took to the senate floor to urge his colleagues to support Dr. Cook’s
nomination, video of the floor speech can be found
