AKRON, OH – Today, U.S.
Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) joined Stanley Black and Decker’s leadership and
workers at its Akron plant to discuss Buy America protections he secured in the
bipartisan infrastructure plan, and the potential opportunities for Ohio
suppliers like Stanley Black and Decker.
“With this infrastructure
bill, we put in place a clear standard: American tax dollars will support
American workers and American jobs at suppliers like Stanley Black and Decker –
not their foreign competitors,” said Brown. “With the historic investments in the Bipartisan
Infrastructure Plan, we have a tremendous opportunity to use these Ohio-made
products in projects across Ohio and around the country.”
Brown was joined on his
tour of the facility with Stanley Black and Decker Government Relations
Director, Chris Ternet, Plant Manager Aaron Schley and other leaders and
workers to discuss his Buy America provisions. The Akron plant makes
attachments and couplers for excavators and other equipment used in
construction.
“We are pleased to
welcome Senator Sherrod Brown to our Akron facility, where we manufacture
products that help support critical infrastructure development, including those
underway here in Ohio resulting from the passage of the Bipartisan
Infrastructure Law,” said Ternet. “We look forward to the
opportunities ahead to support those who make and build our country.”
Brown first introduced
his bipartisan
Build
America Buy America legislation in 2017 and
successfully
fought to include it in the bipartisan infrastructure plan.
The Buy America protections will ensure taxpayer dollars are used to buy and
include American-made products for all federally funded infrastructure
projects. The legislation will close loopholes and secure major investment in
products made by American workers.
