WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH)
announced that the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
awarded a total of
$126,663,446
to communities across Ohio through its Continuum of
Care (CoC) program. These awards will provide funding for housing and services
for families and individuals experiencing homelessness throughout Ohio. To see

“For
too many Ohioans of all ages, housing is too expensive and too hard to find,
and is a barrier to health and opportunity. These funds will help provide
critical housing and services for Ohioans experiencing homelessness,” said Brown “I will
continue working to ensure that all Ohioans can find a safe, stable home they
can afford.”
One of Brown’s priorities as chairman of the Senate Banking,
Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee is pushing for continued investment in
housing and communities across the country, to help bring down housing costs
and grow communities. Brown championed the emergency assistance for renters,
homeowners, and people experiencing homelessness that was included in the
December 2020 and
American Rescue Plan COVID-19 relief
bills, and fought to ensure families and individuals could stay in their homes
amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
HUD’s
CoC Program is designed to promote a community-wide commitment to the goal of
ending homelessness by providing funding for
permanent supportive housing and efforts to quickly rehouse homeless
individuals; families; people fleeing domestic violence, dating violence,
sexual assault and stalking; and young people while minimizing the trauma and
dislocation caused by homelessness.
